Following on from the critically-acclaimed 'Blackman
Land' Front Line release in 1990 and building on the long-overdue
reappraisal of his music during the 80's through the influence on
and championing by 'On-U Sounds' main man Adrian Sherwood, Dubwise
offers a solid core of Prince Far I's dub from the late 70's, the
height of militant reggae/dub/punk cross-over. Dub experimentation
throughout the 80's reflects an apprenticeship in this rich, dark
dub sound.
Producer and toaster with the ancient, smoky vocal, conjuring up the
shadow of the darkside as well as the heat and struggle of Kingston;
Prince Far I fell to the assassin's bullit in the early 80's.
Series organised by Trevor Herman & Steve Pritchard. Mastering
by Frank Arkwright at Chop em Out. Illustration by Rocking Russian.
Design by Mills & Coppenhall (mc2). Art co-ordination by Joe Pearson.
DubMatrix:
I've created only three new samples for this release, because
some of the songs come from the before mentioned 'Cry
Tuff Encounter Pt.2 - Prince Far I In Dub'. This is only true
for tracks 10-16, track 9 isn't on on that release and is in fact
a different cut (or version) to track 10. The titles are also mixed
up.
Another strange thing is the fact that tracks 1-8 where previously
unreleased. Again this is only true for tracks 7 and 8, but also
for track 9 (because that one was acclaimed to come from the 'Cry
Tuff Encounter Pt.2 - Prince Far I In Dub' release). Track
8 is also a different cut (or version) to track 5 (Borno Dub) on
the 'Cry
Tuff Encounter Pt.2 - Prince Far I In Dub' release.
Tracks 1-6 were previously released on the 'Prince
Far I Meet Veros Artis: In Ram Packed Showcase In A Suitcase'
release by Charisma (PREXF3),
but under different track names. Putting this information together
produces the following list:

As you can see, things are a little bit different than presented
on the Dubwise release, in fact it only contains three tracks not
belonging to an album.
